258 Displaced Nigerians Return From Libya


Two hundred and fifty-eight Nigerians have returned from the war-torn North African nation of Libya.

They landed in Lagos on Thursday night on board a chattered airbus a330-200 owned by Libya Airlines.

Among the individuals who were at the Murtala Muhammed Airport to welcome them were Deputy Director Search and Rescue, National Emergency Management Agency and the Director Southwest Zone, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons.

They both urged citizens to have confidence in their nation as opposed to going out in search of greener pasture.

In the mean time, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has given more than 21 of the returnees to the Edo Government who has offered them grants, and also preparing.

Acting Zonal Coordinator of NAPTIP in the state, Mr Nduka Nwawene said while another 500 people are normal back soon, more than 5,000 are however still stranded.
