POLICE ARRESTS 7 SUSPECTED CULTIST IN RIVERS STATE


The Rivers State Police Command said it has arrested more than seven people in association with a cult conflict that ended around three lives in Omudioga Community in Emohua Local Government Area of the State.

State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Omoni Nnamdi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) affirmed the arrest yesterday, expressing that the seven people were arrested amid the police attack on cultists' den in the community.

Omoni noticed that the police team had visited the community during the conflict and peace has so far been restored in the area.

He authenticated that lives were lost in the conflict, depicting the occurrence as cult war.

It was revealed that two groups were the cause of the conflict in the area, Deygbam and the Icelander confraternities, had at the end of the week, engaged in clash of suppremacy.

A reliable source revealed that Deygbam cultists attacked the community and slaughtered three presumed Icelander members.

The source, who did not have any desire to be specified, said shooting gone on for more than six hours without intrusion, including that out of the three people killed, one was guillotined and his head taken away by the aggressors.

Nonetheless, Youth leader of Omudioga, Chinyere Amadi, affirmed the episode to columnists, taking note of that occupants of the community who fled home, were yet to return.

As indicated by Amadi, two of the deceased were recognized as Ezeka Nwadike and Prince Omata.
