Quebec Mosque Attack, 6 killed 8 others injured

A Canadian mosque came under attack on Sunday evening by unknown gunmen which left six people dead and eight others injured in Quebec city. The attack is believed to have been a terrorist attack against Muslims by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Over 39 people who were inside the mosque during the attack were not harmed, as they were forced to spend the night at a sports center were they were subjected to questioning. Two suspects were detained but according to the police, they have refused to reveal the identity of the attackers.

The Worshipers were inside the Quebec City's mosque for the evening prayers when witnesses say two gunmen dressed in black and wearing ski masks walked into the mosque and started shooting. Frantic worshippers started calling 911 at 7:55 p.m., according to police.

A man known as Ali Hamadi revealed how he had left the mosque prior to the attacked, and how he was called on phone and being informed of the doom he had left behind  which claimed the life of his friend.

One of the alleged gunmen called police and turned himself in several kilometers form the mosque. Neither suspect was harmed in the arrests.

Quebec’s Integrated National Security Enforcement Team, consisting of investigators from the RCMP, the Sûreté du Québec and the Montreal police service, took over the investigation around 10 p.m. Sunday, when the shooting was determined to be an act of terror.

On Monday the cities of Montreal and Quebec will host a vigil in honour of the victims.
