Amnesty International, which had campaigned for Manning's release, rushed to praise the decision saying, 'while we celebrate her freedom, we will keep on calling for an autonomous examination concerning the potential human rights infringement she uncovered, and for assurances to be set up to guarantee whistleblowers like Chelsea are never again subjected to such horrifying treatment".

Manning was sentenced 2013 for stealing 750,000 pages of reports and recordings before leaking them to WikiLeaks.

Amid one of his last act in office, President Barack Obama commuted Manning's sentence in January, along these lines giving her an early release date.
