TAXI DRIVERS CALLS FOR THE ABOLISHMENT OF ONLINE TAXI SERVICE 'UBER' FROM ROMANIA


Over 200 taxicabs and buses have parked outside the administration office in Romania's capital, Bucharest, requesting that Uber and other online taxi services be prohibited in the nation. 

Transport in the crowded city was stalled Wednesday morning as the demonstration, planned to last until the evening, got in progress.

Drivers arrived sooner than required and parked their yellow cabs and blew vuvuzela horns in protest. Some met Premier Sorin Grindeanu to present their requests. 

Bogdan Dinca, a vehicle union pioneer, revealed to The Associated Press that they need the administration to affirm a mandate "to destroy the robbery" they blame Uber for. The mandate anticipates last endorsement by the prime minister.

The Confederation of Licensed Transport Operators says it needs "online innovation stages that give unapproved taxi administrations to be banned," to secure authorized bearers. 

Uber says it is a ride-sharing service with transparent costs and its drivers pay taxes. It says some 250,000 clients have used its services in the Romanian capital and other major cities in the past two years.
