Court Orders Temporary relinquishment Of Funds recouped In Ikoyi

A Federal High Court in Lagos, has requested the impermanent relinquishment of the assets recouped by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from a flat in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

In his decision on Thursday, Justice Muslim Hassan requested that the 38 million dollars, 23 million Naira and 27,000 pounds be briefly relinquished to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The judge gave till May 5, 2017 for any invested individual in the assets to show up and give reasons why the cash ought not be for all time relinquished to the Federal Government.

The assets were recouped on Wednesday, following a whistle blower's private alarm received by the Lagos Office of the anti-graft agency, regarding some suspicious movement of bags in and out of the apartment.
