Claudio Rainieri sacked by Leicester 9 months after winning the Premier League

Leicester City have sack head coach Claudio Ranieri, barely nine months after the Italian won the club their first ever Premier league title in their 133 years of existence. The club confirmed on their official website that they have parted ways with the man who won them their first ever premier league title.

Vice Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said: “This has been the most difficult decision we have had to make in nearly seven years since King Power took ownership of Leicester City. But we are duty-bound to put the Club’s long-term interests above all sense of personal sentiment, no matter how strong that might be.

Claudio Ranieri was appointed as Leicester head coach in July 2015 and he went on to win the premier league title in a fairytale fashion in his first season. Ranieri has endured a turbulent second season at the helm of the English champions, as they are currently languishing one point above the relegation zone after winning only 5 of their 25 matches in the EPL this season, with the 2-1 loss to sevilla in the champions league the highlight of a disappointing season which led to Rainieri's sacking.

The 65-year-old Rainieri will forever be revered at the club, as he led them to one of the most stunning Premier league victory ever recorded in history, and in doing so he wrote his name in the club history book as their greatest manager of all time.
